Just Bananas

Mr. B is a worship pastor, so Easter is a pretty big deal around here. Especially when we're doing a full-blown musical like we are this year.  I am directing this original 3-ring circus (by choice, I'm a glutton that way)...in a new building with an 80ft stage, 3 cameras, 40 adults, 30 children, a live band, lots of burlap, brownish-purpley-mauve costumes and an infinite number of artificial plants.  I've spent the last two weekends at church from 9-5, in addition to several afternoons and evenings.  Thanks goodness I've got lots of savvy people around me offering their talents and keeping me from total psychosis.  Despite the twitch I've developed, things seem to be coming together.

When I got home last night at 5pm,  I needed comfort food...and the Newman-Os were calling my name.

Side note: Newman O's are Oreos for food snobs like me.

Many people are not surprised that Oreos are one of the worst foods you can feed a child (or ahem, adult), but many are surprised that Oreos are vegan. So are Newman O's, which are also twice as expensive here in Kansas. This may be why Mr. B has a twitch.

Hmmm....and I always thought he was winking at me.

Well, if there is one thing I know Mr. B misses, it's ice cream.  So, it was time to heal that twitch.  His and mine.
 Cookies & Cream Soft Serve

4-5 Frozen bananas, broken into chunks
16 Newman O's or other creme filled chocolate cookie
1 t. vanilla (optional)
1/4 t. salt

Destroy 6 Newman O's in your food processor until they are practically dust. Set aside.
Pulse 8 O's in the food processor, so you have large chunks.  You can also break them up with your hands.  Set these aside as well.
Put all of your bananas and vanilla into the food processor.  Pulverize until the bananas become smooth.  You may have to work in two batches depending on the size of your processor.  When smooth, dump the salt and cookie dust down the shoot. Your soft serve will turn chocolatey.
Stir in your cookie chunks.  Divide soft serve into 4 bowls or two very large bowls for you and your husband and a small Barbie-sized bowl for your child. Break the last two cookies in half, placing one half in each bowl.

My favorite part of all this was that Mr. B could not believe it was just bananas.

Nope, honey, just bananas. Kind of like your wife.

Just bananas.
